NDIS EQuine EMOTIONAL LITERACY

Updated: Dec 8, 2023

Horses are by nature non-judgmental and affectionate. At Core EQ we provide a supportive environment in which clients can interact with our horses, his or her carer(s) and Core EQ coach and facilitator. In doing this you can learn about yourselves by tuning into your emotions, responses and thoughts.

What we offer is a structured method to do this reflective work so you can get the best out of your facilitated horse experience.

Your take away learning can include:

  • Individual development plan to improve your Emotional Literacy

  • Identified areas to focus your action learning plan, e.g. managing frustration

  • Appreciating your strengths

Emotional Literacy Learning Plan

Our customised program offers a unique opportunity for clients to develop their social confidence and communication skills. This work involves both on the ground and horse riding. We create an individual development plan for each client which includes assessing their readiness for certain activities and understanding of safety imperatives.

Since late 2019 Core EQ has worked with several NDIS Registered agencies to deliver customised individual Emotional Literacy Programs for recipients of the NDIS Federal Government scheme.

Our work is cumulative, building on each session to develop our client's capacity to manage their emotions and to express themselves and therefore to improve their social interaction skills. The focus is on the person not their disability.

Horses dont care if a person has a "disability" or a different kind of ability. What they care about is that you can interact with them, be there in the present. And that they are safe.

Core EQ Learning Triad Model

Core EQ provides the opportunity for clients to gain an enriched understanding of themselves, their self-image, goals and dreams. Our training delivery involves active participation with our client interacting physically with a CORE EQ horse and facilitator-coach.

We have designed a Triad Learning Frameworks Model. Unusually for a Learning Framework there are 3 parties rather than 2 as we have the horse as a key participant, horse facilitator.

The Core EQ Learning Triad provides a summary of how 3 different types of learning methods are integrated to deliver the bespoke Emotional literacy Program. Notably the Spectrum learning method is well known by educators working with autistic clients.
